Frequently asked questions
What does BackupBuddy do?
When you export a general ledger from QuickBooks Online, the attached receipts and invoices do not come with it. BackupBuddy exports your GL, or a single account, to Excel or Google Sheets with a working link to the source document on every line that has one. Anyone reviewing the file can click straight through to the backup.
Who is it for?
It is built for bookkeeping and accounting firms managing multiple client QuickBooks Online files. Firms use it for year-end preparation, audit and review submissions, lender requests, and internal reporting.
Which attachments does it pick up?
It picks up anything attached to a transaction in QuickBooks Online. That includes documents pushed in from Dext or Hubdoc and receipts added through QuickBooks Online receipt capture.
Does it work with QuickBooks Desktop?
No. BackupBuddy works with QuickBooks Online only.
What reports can I export?
You can export the full general ledger or a report for a single GL account, for any date range, to Excel or Google Sheets. This includes customer, class, and location fields.
How long do the links keep working?
On a paid plan, attachments stay available for three years from the date the report was generated, as long as your subscription is active.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan lets you run one report with 50 hyperlinks.
Where is my data stored?
Attachments are hosted on Amazon Web Services with AES-256 security.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel whenever you like, and your access continues through the end of your current billing period.
How does BackupBuddy connect to QuickBooks?
It connects through Intuit official authorization, so you never share your QuickBooks password with BackupBuddy.
